Sampling
Sampling Procedure
The HDSS census data modules will supply historical background data on sampled individuals, their households, and communities to facilitate analyses. Part of these analyses will include cross-referencing individual- and household-level characteristics collected from the MHFUS II baseline survey with the HDSS historical data. Details of Wang's planned analyses are provided in Appendix 1. In addition, we will use the full HDSS to (a) provide methodological analyses of sample representativeness and the determinants of non-response and attrition (b) full census-level background analysis of the study population, with particular reference to permanent and temporary migration by age and sex; and (c) event history analyses of how life cycle and duration process, e.g. migration, are shaped by individual, household and village characteristics.
We recognise that under Mark Collinson and Carren Ginsburg's leadership there are other analyses underway in this theme and we will ensure that they are included in analytic plans to ensure that another is not working on the same question.
